WinZip is the most popular compression/decompression utility for Windows.

It is an excellent zip and unzip utility that comes with built-in support for popular Internet file formats: TAR, ZIP, Uencoded, XXencoded, BinHex, MIME, and Unix-compressed files. ARJ, LZH, and ARC files are supported via external programs. An optional wizard simplifies unzipping and installing software in ZIP files.

Features include automatic, built-in disk-spanning support for multidisk ZIP files, an interface to the freely downloadable Internet Browser Support add-on, which lets you download and open ZIP files from the Internet with one click via Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape.

The split Zip file feature allows you to split Zip files into multiple parts of a size that you specify. The WinZip taskbar tray icon gives you instant access to recently opened Zip files and other WinZip features. Windows XP users will appreciate support of new XP features.

New in this version: Introduces the Zipx format, including lossless JPEG compression, creating the smallest Zip files ever. WinZip 12.1 also adds the possibility to resize photos during Zip and Email.
