Xtables has proven to be a very effective rote learning method that you do not have to supervise, helping your child to learn their times tables.

It sits in the background of a childs desktop and after a preset amount of time (e.g. 20 minutes), takes over their desktop, pausing their games. A clear voice speaks the times table, e.g 6 x 4 = 24, as it is written on the screen. After a short pause (to encourage mental repetition), the child must type it all in from memory.

The program has a password protected menu system for the parent to set items such as maximum times table to learn, number of times repeated before answer can be given, number of seconds delay before being allowed to start entering the sum, the amount of time allowed for game play and for time spent learning.

The trial version of the program allows only 3, 6 and 9 times tables to be learnt.
